All About APLUS

Arizona Pathways to Life success for University Students (APLUS), a landmark research project, examines the relationship of students’ financial attitudes and behaviors to their overall well-being, using information typically not captured in campus surveys.
In the first wave (Wave 1) of data collected in spring 2007, 2098 freshman students provided their perspectives on:

  • How they are faring in college – academically, socially, and financially;
  • How they manage their time and money;
  • Their academic aspirations  -  for college and after they graduate.

Subsequently, in Spring 2009, we conducted a follow-up survey, Wave 1.5, to examine how the recent economic crisis affected the finances and well-being of a subsample of the APLUS students.
In later phases of the project, we'll build on our growing understanding of factors that influence students' financial attitudes and behaviors and shape the trajectories of their lives.
