Who are the APLUS Students?

2,172 first year students completed the Wave 1 Survey in the Spring of 2008 - that represents more than 1/3 of the 2007 first year cohort!

Gender: The majority of the APLUS students were female (61.8%). (Figure 1)

Residence: In-state residents comprised the majority of students (68.9%), with 28.8% of the students from out-of-state, and 2.3% international students.

Ethnicity: 66.9% of the students self-identified as white, 15.2% as Hispanic, 9% as Asian/Pacific Islander, 3.5% as African-American not of Hispanic origin, 2% as American Indian or Alaskan Native, and 3.5% as other. (Figure 3)

GPA: The mean GPA for the students was 3.12 (Figure 4)
